Improved Local-Projection Algorithm Applied to Noise Reduction for Chaotic Signal

This paper addresses the problem of noise reduction for chaotic signals. The existing approaches often face the trade-off between distorting original chaotic signal and holding relatively more noise in filtered signal. In this paper, a new method for analyzing signal's deterministic degree is given based on extensive analysis of local correlation of the chaotic dynamic system. A parameter D being very sensitive to noise is introduced and used to decide how deterministic the dynamic system is. With help of parameter D, we improve our former local-projection noise reduction method. Numerical results show the efficiency of the new method. Since this method does not require prior knowledge for the underlying dynamic system, it is a kind of practical method satisfying engineering demand.
